The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is where almost everyone in YWAM starts. For more than 60 years, ordinary believers have come to a DTS hungry for God, met Him in a new way, and then gone out to tell others about Him.

You'll spend your mornings in worship, prayer and teaching about who God is. You'll spend your afternoons putting it into practice with people who don't know Him yet. And you'll do it all alongside a small team who will become your family.

Most of our students tell us the same thing when they finish: they know God better than they ever have, and they finally know what to do next.

Why Granada?

A city where history, beauty,
and the gospel collide.

Picture waking up in a city of narrow white streets and orange trees, with a Moorish palace on the hill and snow on the mountains behind it. That's Granada, in southern Spain, and it's where you'll spend your 12-week lecture phase.

Granada was the last Moorish kingdom in Spain. When it fell in 1492, nearly 800 years of Islamic rule on the peninsula came to an end. You can still see that history everywhere: in the buildings, the food, the tea shops of the Albaicín and the people. It's a meeting point between Europe and North Africa, and you'll feel it walking down the street.

That makes Granada a great place to learn cross-cultural ministry by doing it. You'll talk with students on campus, meet people in the markets and neighborhoods, and learn how to build real friendships with Muslim neighbors and share Jesus with them respectfully.

On your days off, the Sierra Nevada is just outside the city for hiking and skiing, the Mediterranean coast is about an hour away, and the Alhambra is right down the road. January to April is also one of the best times of year to be here: cool, sunny winter days turning into a warm Andalusian spring.

Lecture Phase

For 12 weeks you'll be challenged to go deeper in your relationship with God while learning more about who He is, His heart for the nations, and your part in sharing His love with the world. All teaching is in English and Spanish.

Outreach Phase

We form teams and travel to different destinations for eight weeks of outreach. This is where you put everything you've learned into practice, serving local churches and sharing God's love among the nations.

Your Objections, Answered

We've heard every reason not to go.

Here are honest answers to the questions we get asked most.

"I'm working and building my career. I can't leave for five months."+
Many of our graduates said the same thing before they came. A January start helps: you can finish the year at work, take the DTS, and be home by mid-June. Plenty of graduates go back to their jobs with more focus and a clearer sense of why they do what they do. Others find a new direction they would never have seen from inside their routine. Either way, it's time well spent.
"I've never traveled abroad and the unknown scares me."+
That's completely normal. Granada is a friendly, safe city with a big international community, and you'll be part of a small team from your very first day. Our staff will help you with travel, arrival and settling in. Things that feel scary now start to feel normal pretty quickly when you're doing them with people who care about you.
"I don't speak Spanish. Will I be able to follow?"+
Yes. All teaching is given in both English and Spanish. Many students arrive with no Spanish at all and pick up a good amount by the end. Granada also has a large English-speaking community, so daily life is easy from the start.
"How will I pay for it? I don't have the money."+
The full school costs €3,600 (a €100 registration fee, €2,500 for the lecture phase and €1,000 for outreach) plus your travel tickets. Most of our students don't have the full amount when they apply. We'll send you our fundraising guide and help you raise support from your church, family and friends, and many students say that process grew their faith before they even arrived. Please don't let money be the reason you don't reach out.
"I don't feel spiritual enough or qualified."+
Then you're in good company. The DTS is for people who want to grow, not people who already have it all together. Moses, Gideon and Peter didn't feel qualified either. God has a habit of using people who know they need Him.
"I'm not sure I'm called to missions."+
You don't need to be. Jesus gave the Great Commission in Matthew 28 to every disciple, and the DTS is for any believer who wants to know God better and follow Him more closely. Many graduates go home and serve in their local church, their workplace and their family, and they're better at all of it.
"What happens after I send the form?"+
